Inguinal Hernia: When to Have Surgery

Inguinal hernias are a common problem and can be the cause of pain, pressure or aching in the groin. A hernia is a weakness or defect that allows parts of the body to push or protrude where they shouldn’t. Inguinal hernias are the most common type of abdominal wall hernia. Inguinal, or “groin hernias,” affect men eight to 10 times more frequently than women, with a lifetime risk around 20-25 percent.

With breast cancer, know your risk.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer remains a significant problem for women. Throughout their lifetime, approximately one in eight women will develop breast cancer. In the United States, it’s estimated that more than 246,660 new cases will be diagnosed in 2016 alone.
