Arthritis Foundation exercise classes at Wellness Center
The HFM Wellness Center is now offering classes and programs developed by the Arthritis Foundation. HFM Wellness Center staff recently obtained certification from the Arthritis Foundation (AF) enabling them to instruct the following: AF Tai Chi, AF Aquatics Program, AF Exercise Program and AF Walk with Ease Program.
AF Tai Chi is a program of gentle movements for the mind, body and spirit. Developed specifically for people with arthritis, it is suitable for every fitness level. Tai Chi will help reduce stress, increase balance and flexibility and bring a feeling of relaxation. Offered Tuesdays & Thursdays 1-1:45 PM. Included with a Wellness Center membership
AF Aquatics Program is a warm water exercise program to help control and reduce arthritis pain. Developed specifically for people with arthritis, it is gentle on the joints and has been proven in research studies to reduce arthritis pain and improve ability to do more daily activities. Offered Wednesdays & Fridays, 10-10:45 AM. Included with a Wellness Center membership
AF Exercise Program uses gentle, joint-safe exercises developed specifically for people with arthritis to help relieve stiffness, decrease arthritis pain and improve balance. The course incorporates interactive health education lessons and stress-reducing relaxation techniques to help participants better manage their arthritis. Offered Tuesdays & Thursdays 11-11:45 AM. Included with a Wellness Center membership
AF Walk with Ease is a 6 week structured walking program that offers support, information and tools to help participants develop successful exercise routines. Shown to increase balance, strength and walking pace, reduce pain and discomfort of arthritis, improve overall health and build confidence to be physically active. Offered Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 1-2 PM. Included with a Wellness Center membership. Nonmember rate for this program is less than $3.50 per class. Next Walk with Ease series runs February 11 – March 22, 2013.
