New Class for Back Pain
A new eight-week therapeutic back class is being introduced at the HFM Wellness Center on March 30. It is open to the general public as well as members and is designed to teach adults with low back pain how to reduce their symptoms. The class was created for a small group of participants who will work with trained fitness professionals to learn specific exercises that strengthen core muscles, resulting in reduction in pain and increased stability.
People with symptoms such as pain when sitting for long periods of time, pain with daily activities or achiness/stiffness in the low back after exercising or in the morning are especially encouraged to attend. Participants do need to be able to get up off the floor without assistance to enroll.
The class meets twice per week for eight weeks on Mondays and Thursdays at 1 p.m. and will be held in the HFM Wellness Center Aerobics Suite beginning on March 30.
