HFM Awards Kayla Kiefer with Karen Kvalo Deehr Memorial Scholarship
Holy Family Memorial (HFM) awarded certified medical assistant Kayla Kiefer of HFM Pediatrics on becoming the 2015 recipient of the Karen Kvalo Deehr Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded annually to an HFM employee pursuing higher education in a healthcare-related field.
Kiefer is currently working toward earning an associate degree in nursing at Lakeshore Technical College (LTC). She holds an associate of arts and sciences degree from the University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc, and also earned her medical assistant technical diploma from LTC. Upon graduation, Kiefer plans to pursue a bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing
The scholarship was created in honor of Karen Kvalo Deehr by husband, retired Judge Allan Deehr, and Karen’s parents, Arnold and Harriet Kvalo. Karen’s family established the scholarship with a high regard for education and the opportunity to expand knowledge as Karen Deehr did. Karen earned a bachelor’s degree in health care administration one month prior to her death. Karen was director of HFM’s Home Health Department.
