HFM Receives National Spotlight for Right Care Approach
Holy Family Memorial is in the national spotlight for its Right Care, Right Setting, Right Outcomes© philosophy of care. HFM President and CEO Mark Herzog is featured in the April 2016 HealthLeaders issue, a national healthcare publication, discussing the topic of healthcare consumerism. Consumerism is defined as the protection of consumers’ interests.
The increase in high-deductible health plans in the last decade is requiring patients to make informed choices about where and how they are going to receive healthcare and from whom. In the HealthLeaders article, Herzog explains that HFM has been in a high-deductible market since 2008, and 90 percent of the healthcare network’s insured population are on a high-deductible heath plan. The average family deductible is $8,000 — a few number of health plans even include a $14,000 deductible.
Because of this, HFM’s healthcare network has had to address consumerism earlier than most hospitals. Herzog explains how trust is the touchstone of consumerism and shares how HFM has responded to healthcare consumers with its Right Care approach which means providing the patient with the right care in the right setting, to get the right outcome—the lowest financial and physical risk.
