Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - Nurse Practitioner Joins HFM Gastroenterology

Jennifer Weier, APNP, FNP-BC, has joined HFM Gastroenterology, a specialty clinic of the Holy Family Memorial health network. Weier will be teaming up with gastroenterologist Dr. Jeremy Anclam in diagnosing and treating digestive system illnesses. As a nurse practitioner she is able to prescribe medications, treat illnesses and administer physical exams. Weier will also work with patients on prevention and education.

Gastroenterology focuses on the digestive system and disorders affecting the entire gastrointestinal system. This system includes all the organs from the mouth through the stomach, intestines and lowest levels of the alimentary canal. Examples of some common digestive system conditions are celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and colon cancer.

She completed her bachelor’s degree at Bellin College of Nursing and her master’s degree as an advanced nurse practitioner from Concordia University. She is a native of Two Rivers and has more than 10 years of healthcare experience as a registered nurse and advanced nurse practitioner serving the people of Manitowoc and Brown Counties. In addition to her career in patient care she was a clinical instructor at the Bellin College of Nursing.

Weier believes in a team approach to care and making experiences meaningful for patients. She is fluent in Spanish and also volunteers as a group support facilitator for Lakeshore Grief Support Program and at the Salvation Army Red Shield Medical Clinic.
