Holy Family Memorial Work Health Options
has offered audtiometric testing at the WHO Clinic and also mobile audiometric testing to its customers since 1990. We travel West as far as Eden, South to Random Lake, and North to Seymour and east to the Lakeshore. Mobile audiometric testing is a highly desired service
. In 2010 Work Health Options did approximately 2800 on-site audios for 47 different companies.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Part 29 CFR, Sub part, G Standard Number 1910.95
requires companies to test their employees on an annual basis if their working environment has noise exposure of a time-weighted average 85dBA or greater. In addition the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Part 62.180 also requires annual testing. This service is in high demand because employers do not have the logistical problem of getting their employees to another location to do testing.

On-Site Audiograms Save Money and are Quick and Easy
   - Cut the cost affiliated with down time resulting in a decrease in production
   - Employees walk to the Audio Van located on the company's property
   - Take the test and return to work immediately

How On-Site Audiograms Work
The employee is tested in the test frequencies of 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 6000, and 8000Hz.  Using Benson audiometric testing software and equipment, results are calculated. It is determined if the employee has a Standard Threshold Shift (STS) or not. If the employee tests okay that is all that has to be done. If the employee has a STS they are scheduled for a retest which is usually done at our office or a facility close by the employer that offers this service.  We can also bring the Audio Van back if there are a large number of retests required.

Before we do a retest the employee's ears are checked to see if there is a large amount of wax, or if a disease is visible when examining the eardrum.  All of our Audiometric testers are (CAOHC) Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation certified. If wax is the problem we can remove the wax in our office usually in one visit. Once the exam is done, the employee is retested. If a STS remains, notice is given to both employee and employer.

Work Health Options does all required reporting and notification to both employers and employee

The employer's test data is backed up on the hospital network for safe and required storage. Work Health Options can do annual Hearing Conservation Education upon request to meet OSHA requirement.
