Matthew K. Gentile, MD, FACC trained as an interventional cardiology fellow at Bridgeport Hospital "affiliated with Yale University" in Bridgeport, Conn., and as a cardiology fellow at Christ Hospital/Rush University in Oak Lawn, Ill. Dr. Gentile also completed an internal medicine residency and internship at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was an assistant professor of medicine at Midwestern University in Olympia Fields, Ill.

Dr. Laham has extensive experience in the field of cardiology and interventional cardiology and is actively publishing state-of-the art cardiac research. He comes to Manitowoc from Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he was Director of Cardiology at Mercy Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He also completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

In addition to the two full fellowships, he received specialized training in echocardiography and interventional cardiology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, MN, and served as an instructor at Mayo Health Systems in La Crosse, WI.

Chicago area interventional cardiologist Michael Rosenberg, MD joins the Heart and Vascular Center. He brings 30 years of cardiology experience to the Lakeshore area. Dr. Rosenberg comes to us from a nationally recognized physician cardiology group. Dr. Rosenberg received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago and completed a Clinical and Research fellowship in Cardiology at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago.

Dr. Rosenberg has extensive experience in coronary and peripheral intervention. He has many publications in the cardiovascular literature and has served in a number of National Guideline and Center for Medicare Services committees.

Interventional cardiologist, Vladimir Swerchowsky, MD, FACC has extensive experience in cardiac interventions. Dr. Swerchowsky received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio. He completed residencies at Boston University Medical Service and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His cardiology fellowship was completed through Case Western at University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Swerchowsky has 30 years of experience with his most recent experience in Green Bay, WI.

Holy Family Memorial Medical Center is among the first medical centers in the U.S. to treat patients with the next generation stent, a scaffolding used to open blocked arteries. Dr. Vladimir Swerchowsky, HFM Interventional Cardiologist with the Heart and Vascular Center uses a technique that only 1% of all cardiologists in the nation uses; going in through the wrist instead of the leg for coronary interventions. This causes less bleeding and also gets the patient back to normal activities quicker. Dr. Swerchowsky is one of the first in the nation to use the new stent technology with insertion through the wrist.
