The Hand and Wrist Clinic

You depend on your hands and arms every day. When issues arise, they can make even simple tasks painful and difficult. This can lead to time off work, avoidance of painful activities, and significant stress.  Often the problem may be minor and can be successfully treated with a course of rest, anti-inflammatory medications, and physical therapy.  However, in some cases, the underlying cause of pain may be more serious.  Regardless of age or activity level, persistent hand, wrist, or elbow pain should be evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in treatment of the upper extremity.

Dr. David Mikolyzk is an orthopaedic surgeon who completed a fellowship in hand and wrist surgery.  He specializes in the comprehensive treatment of hand and wrist disorders, offering both non-surgical and surgical treatment options.  He provides care for common upper extremity problems, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis, as well as complex hand and wrist disorders.

The Hand and Wrist Clinic at Lakeshore Orthopaedics specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of hand and wrist disorders in patients of all ages and activity levels.  Treatment of these disorders often begins with conservative measures such as anti-inflammatory medications, splints, and therapy.  Dr. Mikolyzk works very closely with therapists who have extensive training in hand and wrist disorders.

Occasionally, surgery is considered to improve pain and function.  Dr. Mikolyzk is adept at common procedures such as carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, and arthritis surgery.  He is also proficient in cutting-edge techniques such as small joint replacement, wrist arthroscopy, percutaneous treatment of Dupuytren's disease, and microvascular surgery.  Dr. Mikolyzk has extensive experience in the treatment of complex traumatic hand injuries and also has an interest in sports-related injuries of the hand and wrist.  He also treats many problems involving the elbow.  Dr. Mikolyzk understands that hands are essential for daily function, and he is committed to working with patients to achieve the best possible outcome.

Dr. Mikolyzk is the only fellowship-trained orthopaedic hand surgeon in eastern Wisconsin between Mequon and Green Bay.  He brings a new level of training and expertise to the patients of the area.  Dr. Mikolyzk sees patients in both Manitowoc and Sheboygan.
