| A hernia is a weakness in the strongest layer of the abdominal wall through which things (like intestines, colon, or fat) bulge out.They can be painful, can limit job performance, and can even become stuck or "strangulated," turning into a true surgical emergency.Hernias can be very painful, mildly uncomfortable, or may cause no symptoms at all.Your employees may even have one and be unaware of it.If a hernia develops or becomes strangulated on the job (as a result of work-related activities) it may result in a workers compensation claim, but the reality is that most hernias are present for months or even years before they are noticed. |
