Expert treatment
Lymphedema treatment at HFM is performed by Certified Lymphedema Therapist, Rebecca Blanke. Rebecca is also “Klose” trained. Klose Training offers the highest quality Lymphedema Certification and Continuing Education courses in the U.S. Currently, Rebecca is the only Klose trained therapist in Manitowoc County. Rebecca has also attended education courses in breast cancer rehabilitation and advanced lymphedema management

Lymphedema therapy can assist patients with reducing pain and inflammation following surgery. This treatment can assist with facilitation of soft tissue healing following breast cancer treatments. Lymphedema therapy also assists with decreasing the edema in patient’s diagnosed with lymphedema, and venous insufficiency.
Indicated for the following:
- Mastectomy
- Breast reconstruction
- Lumpectomy
- Persistent edema
- Lymphedema
Lymphedema Treatment sessions include:
- Education regarding symptom management.
- Education regarding lymphedema precautions & prevention
- Exercises to promote strength and function
- Range of motion assessment
- Intervention for pain management
Lymphedema specific treatment:
- Standardized arm & hand circumference measurements
- Compression bandaging
- Strict skin care
- Exercises
- Education regarding self management
- Manual lymphatic massage
- Measurements and recommendations for a compression garment
