In addition to being a board-certified specialist, Dr. Dimitris is only surgeon in Manitowoc County who has completed a fellowship in hip and knee replacement surgery. He specializes in the comprehensive treatment of hip and knee arthritis, including both conservative and surgical care, and performs minimally invasive and muscle sparing procedures for hip and knee replacement. He also performs the gender specific knee, or "female knee," when the indications are appropriate.
Dr. Dimitris has extensive training in computer-assisted knee replacement surgery, as well as hip resurfacing procedures. He also has significant experience in complex revision surgeries, management of periprosthetic fractures, and treatment of infected total joint prostheses.
Dr. Dimitris received his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He earned his medical degree from the Ohio State University, and then completed his orthopaedic residency at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He completed his fellowship in hip and knee reconstruction at the prestigious Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, Florida.
As a member of the ABOS, Dr. Dimitris joins an elite group of distinguished orthopaedic surgeons who are active in patient care, education and research. The ABOS was founded in 1934 as a private, voluntary, nonprofit, independent organization to serve the best interests of the public and the medical profession. These interests are achieved by establishing standards for the education of orthopaedic surgeons that are evaluated by the ABOS through examinations and practice evaluations.
