HFM Orthopaedic Surgeon Chosen for International Research Team
Michael Kennedy, MD, of Lakeshore Orthopaedics, was part of an international research team that studied lesser toe deformities in Barcelona, Spain. The study was entitled Metatarsal Joint Pathology in Crossover Second Toe Deformity: A Cadaveric Study. It was awarded “Most Significant Article of 2012” by the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and published in the prestigious research journal, Foot and Ankle Surgery International.

This award was presented at the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Specialty day at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons annual meeting. The study was also presented there during educational sessions for orthopaedic surgeons.

Dr. Kennedy is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who completed a fellowship in foot & ankle surgery. He specializes in the comprehensive treatment of foot & ankle disorders, offering both non-surgical and surgical treatment options.

Dr. Kennedy received his undergraduate degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He then earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Kennedy completed his internship/residency in orthopaedic surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, followed by his fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery at the prestigious Idaho Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Fellowship in Boise, Idaho

Dr. Kennedy has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters pertaining to foot and ankle surgery. He has conducted extensive research in orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery, and has also lectured and given research presentations in this specialty area. He has more than 10 years of academic orthopaedic experience at the Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.
