Celebrate Summer Solstice with "Yoga Mala"
Holy Family Memorial’s Wellness Center will celebrate the Summer Solstice with a yoga event, “Yoga Mala-108 Sun Salutations”. The event will take place on Thursday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the HFM Wellness Center, 1650 S. 41st Street, Manitowoc and will be lead by Corinne Knab, PYT, E-RYT, RYT-500.
Sun salutations are a series of twelve yoga postures performed in a single graceful flow with each movement coordinated with breathing. Participants will do 9 sets of 12 Sun Salutations, with a period of rest in between. The Yoga Mala will begin with a short period of silence for each person to set an intention for the practice and then a warm-up. It is helpful if the participants have practiced yoga, but not necessary. The Sun Salutations will be done in a gentle way, with modifications given throughout the practice. Session will end with a period of rest to fully integrate the power of the practice. Participants are encouraged to do only part of the sequence, if the full 108 is too rigorous. This is a celebration, not a test of endurance!
Participants should wear comfortable clothing that moves with their body and bring a water bottle, a yoga mat and a blanket to put under it if they wish.
This event is free for Wellness Center members, and $5.00 for non-members. To register, call the HFM Wellness Center at 320.4600.
