The Shoulder Clinic

Overuse injuries of the shoulder and shoulder pain are extremely common in today’s active population. In the majority of cases the injuries are minor and can be successfully treated with a course of rest, anti-inflammatory medications, and physical therapy. However, in some patients, the underlying cause of pain may be more serious. Regardless of patient age or activity level, persistent shoulder pain that adversely affects an individual’s quality of life should be evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the shoulder.

Ryan M. Dopirak, MD is a fellowship-trained specialist in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder. He has been selected by the Arthroscopy Association of North America to serve as an instructor at several national shoulder arthroscopy conferences and has published numerous articles on arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder and other joints. He provides comprehensive care for patients with shoulder disorders, ranging from nonoperative care to the most advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques available anywhere else in the country

The Shoulder Clinic at Lakeshore Orthopaedics is a multidisciplinary team of providers specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder disorders in patients of all ages and activity levels. We have a state-of-the-art physical therapy facility, with dedicated therapists who are experienced in rehabilitation of the shoulder. We specialize in the treatment of complex shoulder disorders, including failed prior shoulder surgeries, and routinely provide second opinions for difficult cases. If surgery is eventually required, our arthroscopic techniques result in less pain and disability as compared to traditional open techniques, which may enable patients to make a more rapid recovery.
