Holy Family Memorial welcomes certified nurse midwife Katie Brown to HFM Women’s Health. Brown joins Leslie Bolander, CNM to expand midwifery services to the Lakeshore region. HFM Women’s Health is the only healthcare network offering midwife services in Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties.
Brown’s desire to become a midwife stems from her passion to provide quality, holistic, patient-centered care to all women. She has been supporting women and their families throughout the journey of pregnancy since 2011, first as a volunteer doula, then as a labor and delivery nurse and eventually becoming a certified nurse midwife.
“Every woman’s birthing experience is unique—whether it’s their first or third child,” says Brown. “My role is to educate and empower patients during their prenatal care visits so that they can be an active participant in their health and pregnancy.”
In addition to midwifery care, Brown also provides comprehensive well-woman care for women during every stage of life. Her clinical interests include well-woman care, prenatal care, breastfeeding and community healthcare.
Brown has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Saint Louis University and earned her nursing degree from Loyola University of Chicago. She received her master’s degree in nursing with a concentration in midwifery from Frontier Nursing University in 2016.
Brown recently moved to Manitowoc from Omaha, Nebraska and is excited to make Manitowoc County her home. During her spare time, Brown enjoys hiking, biking, cooking and reading.
