Varicose Vein Screenings Announced

Varicose veins can be a sign of a serious vein disease. Often thought of as a cosmetic nuisance, varicose veins can progress to a more serious form of venous disease called chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). If left untreated, CVI can develop into severe symptoms.

Healthy leg veins have valves that open and close in order to assist blood heading back to the heart. When varicose veins form, the valves can become damaged, making it harder for the blood to head back to the heart. The valves then do not close properly and can create swelling, ulcers, skin changes, and pain.

If you are experiencing discomfort, leg pain or swelling, take advantage of an inexpensive, varicose vein screening. The cost is only $10.00 and you will meet with experienced, vascular surgeon Dr. Milan Jordan and have a screening ultrasound for varicose veins to help determine the condition of your veins and whether further testing/treatment might be recommended.

March screenings will be held on March 1, 10:45-11:45 a.m. and March 29, 1:15-2:00 p.m.

The treatment procedure offered through the HFM Vascular & Surgery clinic to treat varicose veins uses radiofrequency energy to precisely and effectively treat patients suffering CVI. It has less pain and bruising than alternative treatments and patients are very happy with how quickly they can get back to normal activities.
