Holy Family Memorial is pleased to welcome Rebecca Schmitt, MD to its medical staff. Dr. Schmitt provides general pediatric care at HFM Pediatrics, located at 4303 Michigan Avenue, in Manitowoc.
Dr. Schmitt was born and raised in Northeastern Wisconsin and is thrilled to be back in the area to start her pediatric practice. She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and completed her pediatric internship and residency training at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.
During Dr. Schmitt’s pre-medical and medical school years, she participated in several medical volunteer aboard programs in Grenada, Honduras, China and Costa Rica, and worked alongside with medical professionals to provide health care services to communities in need. Dr. Schmitt says the medical volunteer experiences helped her gain valuable insight into the unique health care challenges facing other countries.
“I’m excited about developing long-term relationships with families in the community,” said Dr. Schmitt. “I enjoy working with children and educating parents along the way, and place a big emphasis on the importance of preventative care and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.”
Dr. Schmitt’s professional interests include newborn care, vaccinations, preventative care and adolescent medicine. In her free time, Dr. Schmitt enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling and exercising.
