HFM named again as one of America’s greatest community hospitals

For the third year in a row, Becker’s Hospital Review has named Holy Family Memorial as one of America’s “100 Great Community Hospitals”. Hospitals featured on this list are recognized for their quality, patient satisfaction, and overall service excellence. Only two health care systems in northeastern Wisconsin made the list.

“It’s an honor to be nationally recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review among our peers for the care that we deliver locally,” said Brett Norell, interim president and chief executive officer at Holy Family Memorial. “As a local, not-for-profit health care system, HFM is committed to providing and ensuring that residents have access to the highest-quality and affordable health care right here in Manitowoc County.”

“This recognition is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our providers and staff and the care they provide to patients and visitors every single day,” added Norell.

Hospitals considered for this list must have fewer than 550 beds, be located in a suburban or rural area, and have minimal teaching programs. Becker’s Hospital Review experts evaluate the hospitals, ranking them based on original research, as well as rankings from review boards such as IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals, iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health's Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals, CareChex ratings, Leapfrog Group grades, Healthgrades awards and CMS stars, among other considerations.

HFM has served Manitowoc County since 1899 and employs nearly 1,000 health care professionals. The health care network includes more than 15 clinics, a retail pharmacy, wellness center and a rehabilitation facility. In 2017, HFM contributed nearly $27.3 million in total community benefit programming to the poor, uninsured and underinsured.
