Holy Family Memorial to hold flag raising ceremony in honor of National Donate Life Month.

The general public is invited to join Holy Family Memorial for a flag raising ceremony at the HFM Medical Center, 2300 Western Avenue, Manitowoc, on April 1 to celebrate Donate Life Month. This is observed each April to honor organ donors and promote the importance of organ, tissue and eye donation.

Attendees are invited to meet in the hospital’s main lobby at 10 a.m. for opening remarks before gathering around the flag pole. The flag will be raised precisely at 10:08 a.m. to highlight the fact that one organ donor can save eight lives.

After the flag is raised, a moment of silence will be observed for 1 minute and 14 seconds to signify that more than 114,000 people nationwide are currently awaiting life-saving organ transplants.

The event will conclude with refreshments in the atrium at the HFM Medical Center. There will be a booth with information on how to become a donor. Registration is not required for the event.
