Holy Family Memorial announced it will be postponing Lean on the Lakeshore—an annual community weight loss challenge—until 2021. The decision was made amid the current challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure the health and safety of the community.
“The impact of COVID-19 has not been lost on any of us,” says Joni Shavlik, LOL program coordinator. “We realize this may be disappointing news to past participants, but we are taking this as an opportunity to reassess the program and look forward to bringing new events and activities—once it’s again safe to do so.”
HFM will share information as soon as a new kick-off date is determined.
Shavlik is encouraging individuals to stay proactive and continue to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle during the pandemic. “As we enter the fall and winter season the entire community is encouraged to pursue exercise opportunities that operate within CDC guidelines,” she says. “Having a good exercise routine, managing stress, and eating nutritious meals will help boost the immune system and maintain a defense against the coronavirus.”
