Holy Family Memorial is pleased to welcome Dr. Aleem Bakhtiar, an emergency medicine and sports medicine health care provider, to its medical staff. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Dr. Bakhtiar is excited to come back to northeastern Wisconsin to start his medical career. He will see patients at HFM Lakeshore Orthopaedics and in the HFM Emergency Department.
“Growing up I had spent enough time as a patient to know the importance of an ER doctor who was caring and communicated well to help mitigate the stress of the situation,” says Dr. Bakhtiar. “As I started working in emergency medicine, I realized one thing I was missing was the ability to have continued care with patients and see what happened after the first few hours of their treatment. That feeling pushed me to complete a sports medicine fellowship so that not only can I provide better musculoskeletal care in the ER but that I can follow patients in the clinic and provide long term care for them.”
Dr. Bakhtiar earned his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s-Roosevelt in Manhattan. Afterward, he went on to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at Texas A and M University in Texas. He is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and board-certified in sports medicine by the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
During his fellowship training, Dr. Bakhtiar was a team doctor for the Texas A and M Aggies. He provided care for D1 and professional athletes. He also enjoyed his time working as a rodeo doctor, at equestrian events, and at Southeastern Conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association championships.
As a sports medicine physician, Dr. Bakhtiar provides non-surgical treatment for acute sports injuries, overuse injuries, and musculoskeletal pain. He’s focused on helping patients continue being active and performing the activities that are most important to them. Dr. Bakhtiar provides a wide array of non-surgical options including stem cell treatments, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments, basic Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), and ultrasound-guided injections.
In his spare time, Dr. Bakhtiar enjoys playing and watching basketball and football, cooking and traveling with his wife.
