Froedtert Health and Holy Family Memorial to Begin Affiliation

Affiliation will increase region’s access to academic medicine

Milwaukee and Manitowoc, Wis., (March 1, 2021) – Froedtert Health and Holy Family Memorial announced today the official start of their affiliation agreement. The agreement was initially announced on Jan. 6 of this year and closed at midnight on March 1. The finalized agreement calls for Froedtert Health to partner with Holy Family Memorial to deliver coordinated, high-quality, academic health care in Manitowoc County. Holy Family Memorial will operate as part of the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin network and will maintain its Catholic identity under the sole sponsorship of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Inc.

The affiliation will secure the future of Holy Family Memorial, providing Manitowoc County’s largest health care provider with long-term clinical and financial sustainability.

“Through this agreement, Holy Family Memorial will gain the benefits of being part of a larger system that is led locally,” said Cathy Jacobson, president and CEO of Froedtert Health. “Together, we will focus on offering high-quality health care backed by the expertise available as part of eastern Wisconsin’s only academic health network.”

Steve Little, incoming president of Holy Family Memorial, added “This is a true partnership rooted in respect, shared values and a common vision for serving current and future health care needs in Manitowoc County.”

For Holy Family Memorial patients, the partnership will bring a closer connection to Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin’s academic health care network and its scope and scale of care. Other anticipated benefits include expanded access to high-quality, innovative services and practices and improve care coordination for patients no matter where they receive care.

The affiliation will also bring reinvestment benefits to Manitowoc County. “As nonprofit organizations, we do not have shareholders,” Jacobson said. “Instead, we reinvest 100 percent of any revenue over expenses into our people, facilities, technology and strategies to support our shared mission to advance the health of the communities we serve.”
