HFM Hosts Medication Take Back Event.

Manitowoc, Wis., (April 15, 2021) – It is important to prevent unused medications from falling into the wrong hands or entering our environment and water supply. To assist the community with disposal of unused medications, Holy Family Memorial in conjunction with the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department, the Manitowoc Metro Drug Unit, the Manitowoc Police Department, and the Manitowoc County Recycling Center, will host a Medication Take Back on Saturday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at Holy Family Memorial, 2300 Western Avenue. The collection will take place at the main entrance to the hospital. There is no charge.

The Take Back event is open to the public for the safe disposal of most medications. This includes prescription and over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, non-aerosol sprays, inhalers, creams, liquids, and pet medications. Pills should be removed from their original containers and sealed in a small “ziplock”-style plastic bag prior to drop off. Other medications should remain in their original containers.

Needles, mercury devices, non-medical inhalers, and personal care products such as shampoo and cosmetics will not be accepted.
