While at HFM, Bishop Ricken visited patients in the hospital’s Cancer Center and inpatient units, blessing both patients and staff. He then joined leaders from Holy Family Memorial and Froedtert Health as well as sisters from HFM’s sponsor, the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, for a discussion on health care today and how the new affiliation between HFM and Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin would benefit local patients and health care in the eastern Wisconsin region. Discussion included expanded access to academic medicine and advanced technology, Catholic-sponsored health ministries, growth of local provider offerings and commitment to keep care local where appropriate.

Bishop Ricken also presided over a Mass in the HFM Chapel where he offered a special blessing for the HFM/Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin affiliation.

“It was an honor to have Bishop Ricken visit HFM to discuss the future of Catholic health care and bless our patients, staff and leadership,” said Steve Little, HFM President. “His visit brought a renewed energy to everyone within the facility.”
