HFM Celebrates Donate Life Month

(Manitowoc, Wis., April, 4, 2022) –In observance of National Donate Life Month, Holy Family Memorial (HFM) held a flag-raising ceremony at the HFM Medical Center on April 4 to commemorate those who have received or continue to wait for lifesaving transplants, as well as the families of individuals who chose to be donors.

The time of the flag-raising is significant and purposeful. The Donate Life Flag was raised at 1:08 p.m. to recognize the fact that one donor can save eight lives, and then followed by a one-minute and 6 second moment of silence in honor of the more than 106,000 patients currently waiting for a life-saving transplant in the U.S. In addition, the flag-raising ceremony was in honor of the hundreds of Wisconsin donors and donor families that have so selflessly given the gift of life and healing through organ, tissue, and eye donation.

HFM works in collaboration with Versiti Organ and Tissue to provide a second chance at life for individuals in need of an organ for transplant. To learn more about becoming an organ donor, visit froedtert.com/transplant/live-donor.
