(Manitowoc, Wis., April 12, 2022)—On Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Holy Family Memorial is partnering with the Manitowoc County Recycling Center, Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department, Manitowoc Metro Drug Unit, Manitowoc Police Department, and Healthiest Manitowoc County to help residents safely remove expired or unwanted prescriptions and/or over-the-counter medications from household cabinets.
The medication take-back event will take place at the main entrance of the HFM Medical Center, 2300 Western Avenue, Manitowoc. The event is a part of nationwide events occurring on April 30 for community members to have a safe place to dispose of their unwanted, unused and expired medications. This includes:
• Prescription medications
• Over-the-counter medications
• Creams and liquids in original package
• Inhalers
• Nonaerosol sprays
• Ointments
• Patches
• Vials
• Pet medications
Individuals should empty pills into a clear, sealable bag before drop off. Other medications can remain in their original containers. Items not accepted include sharps, mercury devices, non-medical inhalers, and personal care products such as shampoo and cosmetics. The disposal service is free and anonymous for community members.
