Tuesday, August 26, 2014 - Prostate Cancer Screening

Holy Family Memorial is offering a prostate screening on Wednesday, September 24, from 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Holy Family Memorial’s Cancer Center, 2300 Western Avenue in Manitowoc. Gedas Grinis, M.D. and Giora Katz, M.D., of HFM Urology will conduct the digital rectal exams.

Screening guidelines recommend a digital rectal exam only; the PSA blood test is no longer recommended for screening. However, PSA blood testing will be available for a $15.00 fee for those who would still like to have it done. It is recommended that men over age 40 who have not had a prostate exam or screening in the past 12 months participate in a digital rectal exam.

Men who would like to make an appointment for the screening should call 320-2238 between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Monday – Friday, beginning Monday, September 8, 2014.

Please note that participants should allow one-half hour for the screening. Priority will be given to men over the age of 40 who have not had a prostate exam or screening in the past 12 months.
