Mark Herzog Recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review
According to Becker’s Healthcare, these 50 presidents, CEOs and administrators are dedicated to ensuring innovative healthcare in their communities and are taking on the challenges of providing healthcare in small towns with vigor. For this list, ‘rural’ was defined as being located outside of a major metropolitan area or healthcare hub. Leaders were selected through a process where a number of factors were considered, including awards received; local, regional and national leadership positions held; and their organizations' recent performance.
With more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, Herzog has served as HFM’s President and CEO since 2001. Prior to joining HFM, he served as Chief Operating Officer at two hospitals in Indiana for 10 years. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, active in many healthcare industry associations and is a national thought leader on healthcare innovation and transformation.
“It is no surprise to us that Mark has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as a top hospital leader,” said Sister Laura Wolf, President, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Sponsored Ministries, Inc. “Through his insights, innovation and dedicated leadership, Holy Family Memorial has consistently raised the bar for quality, compassionate healthcare. We are proud of Mark and grateful for his devotion to our ministry and to the Manitowoc community.”
Herzog has led HFM to many national awards and recognition including:
- HealthCare’s Most Wired hospitals – according to Hospitals & Health Networks Magazine
- One of 2014’s "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare”
- Winner of the “people” category of Insight Magazines Innovation Award
- 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® in Heart Attack, Pneumonia, and Surgical Care according to The Joint Commission
- American College of Cardiology’s NCDR (National Cardiovascular Data Registry) ACTION Registry-GWTG (Get with the Guidelines) Silver Performance Achievement Award. HFM is one of only 139 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor.
Will Casey, Holy Family Memorial chairman of the board of directors commented on behalf of the board, “We are very proud but not surprised by this recognition. Mark is a thoughtful and strategic leader who has helped guide our system successfully through the ever changing and increasingly complex world of healthcare. Under Mark’s leadership, Holy Family Memorial continues to serve the needs of our local community as it has done for over 115 years.”
