About
Mike DePew is a nationally certified Physician Assistant specializing in orthopaedic sports medicine and shoulder surgery. He assists Dr. Ryan Dopirak in the evaluation and treatment of shoulder problems and sports-related injuries. He also provides care for acute orthopaedic injuries in the OrthoNow Clinic, which is the first and only orthopaedic walk-in care in the Lakeshore region. Mike was one of the founders of the Orthopaedic Bone Health Clinic in the Froedtert Northeast Medical Group, which provides comprehensive care to patients who have sustained osteoporosis-related fractures.
Mike received his Bachelor of Science degree in organizational management at the University of Colorado-Boulder. He then received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School. He subsequently completed a post-graduate Physician Assistant orthopaedic residency sponsored by Illinois Bone and Joint Institute at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.
Mike began his career in orthopaedic sports medicine at the renowned Vail-Summit Orthopaedic Group in Vail, Colorado. He eventually returned to Wisconsin to be closer to family. Mike has worked with Dr. Ryan Dopirak and the Froedtert Northeast Medical Group orthopaedic team since 2007. His goal is to ensure that high-quality, personalized orthopaedic care is provided to each patient and family that he serves.
Mike is a veteran of the Persian Gulf war where he served as a combat medic in the United States Army during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He is married to Ami DePew, MPT, a physical therapist with the Froedtert Northeast Medical Group. Together, Mike and Ami have 2 sets of twin daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, weight training, running, attending local sporting events, and spending time with family.
