Having specialized in hand therapy since 1994, my focus in Occupational Therapy (OT) is to assist patients to regain use of their upper extremities so they can return to their prior level of function. Utilizing a variety of interventions and techniques which may include custom and prefabricated splinting, soft tissue mobilization (such as myofascial release and ASTYM), scar management, edema control, fluidotherapy, paraffin wax treatments, hot packs, ultrasound, electric stimulation, education in use of adaptive equipment, ADL training, joint mobilization, neuromuscular reeducation, desensitization, mirror therapy, dry needling, therapeutic exercises/activities to regain range of motion, strength and coordination and home program instruction, patients are able to maximize their potential in regaining use of their upper extremities.
