According to the FAA, drones are considered unmanned aircraft and, as such, the operators of the drones must comply with certain federal laws and regulations and temporary flight restrictions. Helipads at hospitals are considered airports by the FAA and the laws for drone operators require notification of flights within five miles of the helipad.
