How HFM Right Now works.
A virtual visit through HFM Right Now is quick, convenient and easy to use.
You start by visiting our website and submitting a Request for Care to one of our Patient Concierges—you simply provide your contact information, insurance status and your symptoms. Then you choose to meet with a provider virtually and enter your credit card information for payment.
Once you submit your Request for Care, you’ll enter a private HFM Right Now Room. From there, your visit will become “active” and you’ll receive a prompt to enter the virtual Exam Room within five minutes. If you don’t enter the Exam Room in that time, we’ll attempt to contact you at the backup phone number you provided upfront.
After you’ve entered the Exam Room, your HFM Right Now visit will last around 20 minutes. Our provider will ask you questions just as if you were in an actual clinic, and may also talk you through self-examination procedures. At the end of the visit, you’ll receive a diagnosis and specific care plan. Any prescriptions needed will be called in directly to your pharmacy of choice. And please note, if at any point you experience technical issues or are disconnected, call 844-805-2030.

HFM Right Now payment options
We’re proud to offer HFM Right Now for only $49 per visit. Although we can’t accept insurance for HFM Right Now, your visit fee may be able to be applied to your deductible. You may also be able to use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HSA) for reimbursement or payment. Check with your insurance provider to verify eligibility. Certain employers also provide full or partial coverage for HFM Right Now. Check with your employer for details.
For payment, we accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. No other payment forms are accepted at this time.
And please note, our providers always determine if your reason for visit is appropriate for virtual care. If it’s determined within the first three minutes of your HFM Right Now visit that your condition isn’t eligible to be treated virtually, you won’t be charged the $49 fee.

Who is eligible for HFM Right Now?
Due to government regulations, we are unable to provide the HFM Right Now service to anyone with government-sponsored insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, BadgerCare or TriCare). If you’re covered by government-sponsored insurance we can help you find the appropriate HFM resource near you. We recognize this may inconvenience many of our patients and continue to advocate for this law to be changed.
Can I use HFM Right Now instead of going to my family physician?
Depending on the circumstances, HFM Right Now can save you a trip to your family physician—however, HFM Right Now shouldn’t replace a relationship with your primary care provider. If you don't have one, we can help you find a primary care provider who’s right for you.
Can I get prescriptions through HFM Right Now?
Yes. Medications commonly prescribed virtually include:
- Allergy medications
- Anti-nausea medications
- Skin creams or ointments
- Antibiotics, if appropriate*
*Please note, our HFM Right Now providers follow national healthcare guidelines for prescribing antibiotics. Antibiotics are only warranted in specific cases and can have side effects such as diarrhea, rash or serious allergic reactions. We’re committed to providing you the highest quality and safest healthcare.
We don’t prescribe or refill controlled medications through HFM Right Now, such as:
- Anti-anxiety medications (e.g., Ativan, Klonopin, Valium, Xanax)
- Narcotics (e.g., Codeine, Oxycodone, Percocet, Vicodin)
- Stimulants (e.g., Adderall, Ritalin)
We also won’t prescribe drugs for erectile dysfunction through HFM Right Now (e.g., Viagra and others). This is a condition that should be assessed by and managed through your primary care provider.
Can I use HFM Right Now for follow-up care questions or prescription refills?
Typically not. HFM Right Now is intended for minor illnesses and conditions only, not to deliver follow-up care or prescription refills. If you need a prescription refill, we recommend you speak with your regular provider. Short-term prescription refills for certain conditions may be issued in select cases per each specific provider’s discretion.
What technical requirements do I need to use HFM Right Now?
HFM Right Now requires Internet Explorer 9 or higher, Chrome, Firefox or Safari internet browser. HFM Right Now isn’t compatible with Internet Explorer version 8 or older.
Video chat is available on Chrome or Firefox and is also available on Internet Explorer 10 or higher (with a plug-in download).You can also utilize FaceTime on any iPhone, iPad or Mac.

HFM Right Now is available to residents and travelers in Wisconsin. Other participants may have the option to use HFM Right Now while traveling in the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.
Do I need to make an appointment to use HFM Right Now?
No. The beauty of HFM Right Now is that it’s available on-demand, with no appointment needed. As soon as you request care, you’ll visit with the next available provider. You’ll typically be in your virtual Exam Room speaking with your provider in less than 15 minutes.
Can I use HFM Right Now if I’m an international resident?
If you have a permanent address outside the U.S. and you’re visiting a state in which we’re licensed to deliver care, you can use HFM Right Now.
Will my primary care provider receive my visit record?
If you provide us with information about your primary care provider, we’ll send your visit summary to them.
Even if you don’t provide us that information, after every HFM Right Now visit, you’ll receive a personalized visit summary that outlines your visit, treatment recommendations and outcomes. This visit summary is accessible at any time from your account page.
Will insurance cover my HFM Right Now visit?
Using HFM Right Now is a qualified medical expense, and you can typically use your HSA or FSA account to pay for it. You may request an invoice for your visit that you can submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement. As insurance coverage varies widely among plans, we cannot guarantee reimbursement. Contact your insurance provider directly for more details on coverage eligibility.
How do I submit my HFM Right Now invoice to my insurance company?
Most insurance companies have medical reimbursement or medical claim forms available on their websites. Because claim processes differ among insurers, please contact your insurance company’s claims department directly for more details.
It's been a few days since using HFM Right Now and I’m still not feeling well. Can I use HFM Right Now again for a follow-up visit?
If you used HFM Right Now and still aren’t feeling well, we’re happy to conduct a follow-up visit with you. In fact, if you’re seen within 48 hours with the same chief complaint, you won’t be charged for a new visit. If you’re requesting an additional visit outside of 48 hours or about a new chief complaint or condition, then you’ll be charged for your new visit. For those follow-up visits that qualify for no charge, please call our Patient Concierges directly at 844-805-2030 (since if you create a visit through our website you’ll be required to enter your credit card number and will be charged). Please don’t attempt to follow-up with the provider you saw via FaceTime messaging or Skype directly as provider Facetime and Skype accounts aren’t monitored and messages sent to these accounts won’t be received. Again—please call and speak with one of our Patient Concierges for follow-up requests.
